We have a new squirrel in our tree. We have named her Kaikura, an African name meaning ground squirrel. I am so happy and yet sad that the other lil' guy has never returned. This little gal came about four days after Maizie set out some corn for the squirrels. Kaikura is a responsible little squirrel. For about every five pieces of corn she eats she buries one for winter.
Here Kaikura is eating the corn. Below she is burying a piece for later. She is so sweet.

I think it looks like it is kneeling in deep prayer! Okay...maybe it looks a little dead but there is something serene and adorable in it. Okay...maybe death looks serene? I don't know! I just really like the photo. Geesh!
